Business ethics applies to business and personal life and business and personal life.

As business owners and managers, we’re all part of a team, each of us working day in and day out to reach the goals we set for ourselves. We all need to make decisions that are best for the company, and we never forget that we are the ones who make the decisions. It’s when we step back and look at situations through our own eyes that we discover how we could have been better all along.

It’s not that we are unethical or immoral. We have a variety of ethical guidelines we follow and are held to. For example, we don’t lie. We don’t steal. We don’t abuse our power. We don’t discriminate. We don’t cheat. We respect other people’s feelings.

All decisions take on a business context, since making a decision is a decision to be made with a business goal in mind. If you think about it, decisions are like the process that you have to go through to get to the point where you finish something. You have to decide what your goal is, why you want to achieve it, what are your best options, and how you will achieve it.
